Eligibility

All students participating in any interscholastic sport must be covered by the student accident insurance or provide evidence of satisfactory coverage. Student insurance forms can be obtained from the office. Parents must pay the cost of this insurance. Each student who makes the interscholastic team will be assessed an activity fee prior to the start of the season. All athletes are required to have a physical examination at the beginning of each new sports season.
                                                  
 Academic Eligibility for Interscholastic Sports – At DMS, our student-athletes recognize that their first responsibility is to academics. They know that success on the field depends on success in the        
classroom. Therefore, student athletes: 

1. must be passing at least four full subjects or the equivalent as of each Friday during
a grading period. Failure to meet this requirement will result in your losing eligibility
for the following week (Sunday through Saturday). 
2. must pass at least four full credit subjects or the equivalent during the previous
grading period, except that eligibility for the first grading period is based on your
final grades for the preceding school year.  Failure to meet this requirement will
result in the loss of eligibility for the first twenty school days of the next grading period. Ineligibility days begin to be counted from the date that report cards were issued.
3.       understand that P.I.A.A. rules stipulate that only 7th & 8th grade students are eligible to
participate in interscholastic sports.
